Little intro of my crazy life and how Torq’d came about

Hello to everyone out there clicking onto my new blog treads and threads.

I want to give you guys a little back story on me, Liz the founder and brains behind Torq’d. So my day job is pretty cool I’m a tire specialist in NASCAR for Daniel Suarez on the 96 cup car, this year is my 8th year living this crazy life of traveling 36-40 weeks a year.

I’ve work with so many amazing drivers throughout the years from Chris Buescher to Michael Waltrip to Regan Smith and Alex Bowman. I got my start back in 2012 with Jennifer Jo Cobb in the truck series as an unpaid intern and busted my butt to learn how to do everything possible and create a reputation in the garage as a hard worker. The thing about NASCAR it’s not just who you know it’s what you know and your work ethic.

Being one of only a handful of females in the garage I’ve always felt like I need to work ten times harder to prove I belong and deserve to be one of 40 tire specialist/mechanic in the top NASCAR series.

Now that you know a little bit about my backstory into racing I can tell you about why I created this brain child I call Torq’d. Pretty quickly I realized work pants designed for women were non existent 10-12 years ago when I started a career in quick lube and “street car” mechanic. After my first year in racing I was wearing too big of pants with little to no pockets and buying 5-10 pairs a year I knew something had to be done.

I grew up sewing and crafting with my grandma even made 2 prom dresses for myself. So I had an idea of what I needed to do and started researching how to go about it, let’s just say the internet is vast and full of way too much info.

I would work on it then let it sit for a couple months and do it all over again. Around 2016 I had just gone through a divorce and was pretty much rebuilding my life, same career path just everything outside of my job was different. That was when I decided to get serious about my clothing line. I had been in cup for 3 years had created a decent following and was still struggling with work pants that fit and held up to my crazy life. By the middle of 2017 I had my first prototype, 3 factories later and another year I was in full production and selling my women’s work pants. I’ve always been super creative and artistic so the shirts started while I was developing the pants to help offset the investment cost in developing pants from scratch plus what female mechanic doesn’t want funny shirts that are actually made for women that aren’t the corny ones you find at local and big tracks or just a men’s shirt.

I’m going on my second year of selling this pants while still trying to reach all the female mechanics or “shecanics” and let them know I have a better solution than what uniform company’s call women’s work pants (btw if you’ve never worn them they are awful and so uncomfortable).

Well that’s all I’ve got for today but stay tuned I’m going to try to post something every week and let you guys see into this crazy life called racing.
